Jonathan is our team's portfolio manager, developing investment strategies for high-net-worth individuals and business owners. He is responsible for managing discretionary client portfolios on a day-to-day basis and has developed Optima Capital’s investment strategies.
Jonathan has over 22 years of experience managing investment strategies through multiple and complex market cycles. With his extensive investment experience, Jonathan has developed a strong understanding of economics and is well-versed in the global equity and fixed-income markets. Over the years, Jonathan has cultivated specialized skills in portfolio management and developed various sophisticated investment modeling tools. Jonathan uses a top-down, bottom-up approach that combines fundamental and technical analysis to build personalized portfolios and strategies that utilize individual equities, bonds, and exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
As a Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®) professional, Jonathan holds an advanced credential created specifically for wealth managers who work with high-net-worth clients, focusing on the life cycle of wealth. In addition, he has the following designations - Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®), Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA®), Chartered Special Needs Advisor (ChSNC®), Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA), and Retirement Management Advisor (RMA®).
Jonathan began his financial services career with Merrill Lynch in 2003. At Merrill Lynch, he served in the leadership roles of Market Sales Manager and Senior Resident Director for the Scottsdale West Valley Market in Arizona. Wall Street Magazine recognized Jonathan as one of the Top 100 Branch Managers in 2017.
Jonathan is originally from Saginaw, Michigan, and a marketing graduate from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. He currently resides in Scottsdale, Arizona, and his interests include traveling, fitness, leadership, entrepreneurship, and computer science. Jonathan is active in the community and served as a member of the Central Arizona Estate Planning Council (CAEPC). Jonathan was awarded the Theta Chi Fraternity – David E Devol Award in 2022 for his lifetime service as an alumni advisor and student mentor.
